This summer has been my summer of learning, growing, and – if all goes well – increasing my marketability. In an ever-changing and often difficult job market, many internal and external factors affect a job candidate’s value to prospective employers. I’ve made this summer and fall my certificate period. I want to increase my potential value to employers and clients by getting certified in FileMaker Pro (database software) and QuickBooks ProAdvisor (accounting software) by December. My thinking is that earning these certifications will not only increase my value by giving me a piece of paper to market on my resume, but will also bolster my knowledge, skills, and abilities in the two areas I consider my greatest analytical strengths. Let’s see how they go! What have you been doing to build your mental, physical, or professional muscles? Share your growth experiences in comments. I’d love to read them!
